Off To Disneyland

I haven't blogged in a really long time.  Life has been busy and uneventful.   This week has been full of taking care of sick kids.  Avery came down with what I thought was the stomach flu on Sunday night and has been soooo sick ever since.  With me thinking it was the stomach flu I was just waiting for it to pass.  After three days I finally took her to the doctor to find out it is strep throat.  She is so lethargic and miserable I feel bad we didn't get her the medicine sooner.  I was so nervous that Abbie was going to be sick because she headed off to Disneyland with her Grammie and Grammps Phillips today.  On the Philliips side of the family they take the grandkids to Disneyland when they are turning eight years old.  So Abbie and her cousin Zayden got to go this year. Talk about a great birthday present. Going to Disney and spending quality time with their grandparents is an awesome gift.  All week I just knew she was going to be sick. Luckily we had her tested right before she left (9:30p.m.) and she doesn't have it yet. She has had a fever the last few days so the doctor was nice enough to start her on a prescription.  That way if she does get sick it won't ruin her trip.   She has been looking forward to this trip for such a long time I was just devastated to even think of her being sick.   When she woke up this morning she was feeling great and couldn't wait to get on that plane (even if she had to get up at 3:15 a.m. this morning.)   Lets all keep our finger crossed that she stays well.

I had to take a picture of her before she left in her "High School Musical" shirt.  I'm kind of sad that I can't be there with her experiencing the magic of Disneyland, but she is going to have such a great time.

Too old for a kids meal :(

A few of our night this week were really long due to Micah starting back into school (only 15 weeks left until graduation,  YAHOO!!!).  The days get really long when he doesn't get home so I decided to take the girls to McDonald's for dinner; any excuse I can find to break up the routine and get us out of the house makes me happy.  Plus, they just received McDonald's gift certificates they were dying to use (thanks grandma). We rarely eat at McDonald's so they were thrilled.  As we were looking over the menu trying to decide Abbie said  "I just want a hamburger and drink mom".  I mentioned she could get a kids meal and she didn't want one.  What!  She doesn't want that stupid little toy anymore that she used to be thrilled with?   If she is getting old, so am I.  It's a sad day when your kids are too old for kids meals.

Photo Tag

I've been tagged, and now you are too.  You have to post the 4th picture in the 4th folder of your pictures folder.  Then give a brief description.  If you are reading this consider yourself tagged.

This is Abbie on one of our first camping trips with the kids (2005). Abbie was 4 years old and Avery would have been 2.  From the looks of her hair we must have had a very adventurous day.  I remember having navajo taco's for dinner and forgetting to pack the can opener for the chili.  The tent was up a slight hill and a short distance from the camp fire.  When it was time for the girls to go to bed I remember tucking them in and returning to the camp fire to enjoy the great outdoors. Instead of the peace and quiet we were expecting all we could hear were giggles.  When we looked up at our tent the flashlights were going crazy.   They were having their own light show.   I can still hear the giggles.

I decided to post a few more pictures of our trip.  What great memories. I can't believe our girls have grown up so much over the past few years.

I love those blue eyes.

Thank you Amy for the trip down memory lane :)

Happy New Year!

Our family welcomed in 2009, and had all the kids asleep by 9:00 p.m. Micah and I have never been real crazy about big parties to welcome in the new year.  We figure it will come by morning if we stay up to bang pots together or not.  Maybe we are just big party poopers, but I'm sure it will change as our kids get older.  As for now they need their sleep. Micah took the two older girls to a movie, and I was able to have lunch with my mom and Aunt Mavis who was visiting from out of town.  We ended the day with a fun dinner together as a family with Martinelli's and poppers.  (We really know how to party.)

Aliza has really been on this kick of doing something she knows will hurt and then asking "are you ok?"  It is really hilarious when you're not the one getting pinched or squeezed.

This really is not a good picture of Abbie, but look at that great action shot.

When doing poppers the best part is making a huge mess of all the stringy stuff.  It wouldn't be a party without stringing it all over the house, right?
We hope that you all had a very Happy New Year!
We look forward to all our memories in 2009.
